The majority of employers in Canada require a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) before they can employ a temporary foreign worker. LMIA is an assessment tool used by Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC) to establish whether the intended employment of a foreign worker will benefit or negatively affect the Canadian economy.
